Llorente exit will make significant saving to Spurs wage bill

Champions League hero Fernando Llorente is expected to leave Tottenham this summer in a significant saving to the club's wage bill.

Llorente, who earns around £100,000-a-week, is out of contract and can leave Spurs on a free transfer.

The club had the option to add another year to his contract but the deadline passed last month, and if they want to keep the 34-year-old they would have to offer him fresh terms.

The former Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla forward is thought to be interested in a return to Spain but, speaking after Saturday's European Cup final defeat to Liverpool in Madrid, he said he had no idea about his future, refusing to rule out staying at Spurs.

Tottenham pipped Chelsea to the signing of Llorente for £15million from Swansea City in August 2017 and for much of the past two years he struggled to make an impact as Harry Kane's understudy.
