The Nerazzurri are targeting the Italian playmaker who will become a free agent this summer, but they can’t beat the offer from the MLS side.
The soap opera between Lorenzo Insigne, Napoli and Major League Soccer has reached a new episode with the winter transfer window approaching. It seems that the offer from Toronto FC is superior to the Inter Milan one and the Italian playmaker could end up joining the MLS side sooner rather than later.
Insigne ready to leave Napoli
The Italian playmaker wanted to stay at Napoli, but the people in charge were not giving him what he was demanding to extend his contract. Inter has been following the negotiations closely and approached Lorenzo Insigne with a tempting offer to bring him in as a free agent for the next campaign.
The problem is that Toronto FC has reportedly made a more impressive offer to the Partenopei captain that is very difficult to resist and has him thinking about his future. At this point it is unlikely that Insigne reaches a deal with Napoli and now he is analyzing the offers from the Nerazzurri and the TFC.
The Major League Soccer side is offering the 30-year-old almost $8 million per season, which is superior to the offer from Napoli and Inter. But in order for Toronto to bring in Insigne, they have to free a designated player spot before the start of the 2022 MLS campaign. So the TFC are trying to send on loan Yeferson Soteldo to Palmeiras during the winter transfer window.
