Manchester City dominate UEFA's picks for the Champions League team of the season, with seven names in the 11 after their victory in Istanbul on Saturday night.

UEFA's Technical Observer panel has revealed their selections for the best team in Europe's elite club tournament for the 2022-23 season, selecting a pair of stars from losing finalists Inter Milan, and two from semi-finalists Real Madrid, to feature alongside the City septet.

Pep Guardiola's men dominate the midfield and attacking spaces - taking five of the six spots in those positions - but there are two Inter Milan defenders and a goalkeeper that Manchester City beat on their way to glory.

Thibaut Courtois is one of a pair of Real Madrid players listed in the 11, with his sturdy goalkeeping helping the Spanish giants on their way to the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Man City one round after beating Chelsea in the quarters.

The outfield Real Madrid pick is the lone man from the front three not to be in a Manchester City shirt. Vinicius Junior has been one of the stars of the Spanish club, and he scored seven goals for the club on their way to the final four.

Inter Milan defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco featured in the selected back four.

Bastoni, 24, made 12 appearances in the Champions League this season, including 76 minutes of Saturday's final against Man City.

Dimarco, 26, played the whole 90 minutes in the defeat in Istanbul, his 11th appearance in the tournament.

But the rest of the team was dominated by Manchester City's Treble-winning stars.

Kyle Walker featured in the named defenders, despite being listed only as a substitute for Saturday's showpiece finale. Ruben Dias is also named alongside the Inter Milan pair.

John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri were the three midfielders in the team. They all started in the middle for Manchester City in Istanbul, although the Belgian was forced off the pitch with a hamstring problem in the first half.

Rodri's fierce strike midway through the second half was enough to crowd Man City champions of Europe, to go with their Premier League and FA Cup trophies.

Alongside Vinicius Jr, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland were also named by UEFA for the best team of the Champions League this season.

Manchester City, Real Madrid and Inter Milan have all qualified for the group stages of the 2023-24 Champions League competition.

The next instalment of Europe's elite club competition gets underway with the first qualifiers to be played in a preliminary round on June 27 and June 30.
