Man United fans revel in Martinez HOWLER after the he goaded Old Trafford crowd

Emi Martinez's sixth minute blunder was all the excuse Manchester United fans needed to pile into the Aston Villa keeper on Saturday, taking revenge for the Argentine's antics at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes' stinging shot caught Martinez out just six minutes into the clash at Villa Park, spilling the ball between his legs for the opening goal.

The red-faced stopper pleaded to the referee but there was no escaping the error, and the Red Devils faithful immediately cast their minds back to an incident in September at their home ground.

United earned a last gasp penalty after Villa went ahead through Kortney Hause's controversial opener – and Martinez was seen daring Cristiano Ronaldo to take the penalty instead of Fernandes.

CR7 instead allowed his Portugal team-mate to step up, but watched Fernandes blaze his penalty and a possible point high into the stands – which Martinez celebrated by turning to the home support and doing a dance.

@SensibleUtd enjoyed the payback, writing on Twitter: 'I wouldn't want any other keeper in the world to fumble a long shot more than Emi Martinez.'

'Hate to see keepers make mistakes. Felt really bad for Karius vs Madrid, etc but Emi Martinez is a rare exception. Him conceding a howler feels like scoring 2 goals,' @Adroit_Cadet added.

Arsenal fan @elspanishgooner chipped in on the former Gunners stopper: 'Emi Martinez is so bad. Like genuinely bad.'

Despite the joys of Martinez's blunder, United were frustrated again by Villa as the hosts' new signing Philippe Coutinho struck in the 82nd minute to snatch a draw.

Fernandes' double pulled Ralf Rangnick's men clear before Jacob Ramsey sparked the comeback on 77 minutes – preventing a third-straight Premier League defeat for Steven Gerrard.
