Manchester United may well still have work to do despite getting off to a winning start in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag's side beat Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford, with new signing Joshua Zirkzee the match-winner. Noussair Mazraoui made his full debut at the back, with Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt both coming off the bench in the second half.
The move for De Ligt was accelerated after another of United's summer signings, Leny Yoro, picked up an injury in pre-season. With striker Rasmus Hojlund also sidelined, United could also look for reinforcements in attack.
Links with Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte haven't gone away either, with a new midfielder potentially on the cards. Here are Mirror Football's latest lines from around Old Trafford.
Manchester United's links with Frenkie de Jong have been quieter this year than in the past, but not invisible. Talk has grown louder in recent weeks, but a move appears tough - especially if Barcelona allow Ilkay Gundogan to leave this summer.
According to reports in Spain, Gundogan has indicated he's ready to leave Camp Nou after just one season. Turkey or Saudi Arabia could provide an exit route for the German international, who impressed in his first year after a free transfer from Manchester City.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has held talks with his compatriot and suggests it's more likely than not that Gundogan will stay. If Barca decide it's time to take the big earner off their wage bill, though, it's hard to see a second midfield departure following.
United's pursuit of midfield reinforcements saw Youssouf Fofana's name come up more than once. He won't be moving to Old Trafford, though, with AC Milan confirming the arrival of the French international.
The 25-year-old has 21 caps for his country, including a substitute appearance in the 2022 World Cup final. He has joined the Rossoneri from Monaco in a deal thought to be worth around £21m
"When the Club is looking for you like AC Milan was looking for me, it's obvious you want to go there," he said. "This is the right moment, for me and the squad: now I am a complete player, I want to play in the Champions League and win the Scudetto, I cannot wait to start. The project I saw from the Club aligns with my ideas".
Valencia manager Ruben Baraja is preparing for Giorgi Mamardashvili to stay at the club despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester United. On Saturday, we brought you the news that United were looking to hijack Liverpool's move for the Georgia goalkeeper.
"It's very simple. He's our player, and as long as there is no other different situation, I'm not going to evaluate anything," Baraja said, as reporter by 90min.
"He's here, he’s ready to participate. We can't talk about situations that haven't happened yet."
