Veteran midfielder Claudio Marchisio has left Serie A champions Juventus by mutual consent after 25 years at the club.
The 32-year-old, born and raised in Turin, made his professional debut in Serie B in 2006 after Juventus were relegated following the Calciopoli corruption scandal.
He went on to play nearly 400 times for the club at which he used to be a ball-boy in his youth, and for which his family are all season ticket holders.
Following the confirmation of his departure, Marchisio posted an emotional goodbye to social media, featuring a picture of him as a child playing football in a Juve kit.
He wrote: 'I can't stop looking at this photograph and these stripes on which I wrote my life as a man and a footballer.
'I love this shirt to the point that, despite everything, I am convinced that the good of the team comes first. All the time.'
Marchisio, capped 55 times by Italy, progressed through Juve's youth ranks and only played for one other club, spending a year on loan at Empoli in the 2007-08 season.
He made a total of 389 appearances in all competitions, scoring 37 goals, and won seven Serie A titles as well as four Coppa Italias.
'Having had the opportunity to accompany him on this path, to discover a homegrown champion, day by day, was quite simply a privilege and an honour,' Juve said in a statement.
However recently Marchisio suffered a series of setbacks following a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee in 2016, and fell down the pecking order at Juve.
His next move is unclear - Friday marks the transfer deadline for Serie A clubs, while Marchisio has also been linked to a potential MLS switch.
