Marco Reus breaks down in tears after Dortmund collapse as Bayern win Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund icon Marco Reus was left in tears at full-time after his side were unable to beat Mainz on the final day of the Bundesliga season to pip Bayern Munich to the title. Dortmund needed just a victory, but could only manage a 2-2 draw and their fierce rivals won at Koln to claim their 11th championship in a row.

Reus was a first-half substitute but could not have the desired impact as Dortmund struggled under the weight of pressure while Jamal Musiala's late strike ensured victory for Bayern at Koln.

The results ensured that Dortmund and Bayern finished the season tied on 71 points but Thomas Tuchel's side had a superior goal difference to once again claim top spot.

Reus is still without a Bundesliga winners medal, having joined Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012, the summer after Jurgen Klopp's side last defeated Bayern.

While Jude Bellingham was also emotional after failing to secure the first league title of his young career, pushing away the cameras that were filming his reaction.

Dortmund found themselves 1-0 down to Mainz in the 15th minute thanks to Andreas Hanche-Olsen's finish while Kingsley Coman had Bayern into an early lead, before Sebastien Haller then missed a penalty to level the scores.

Karim Onisiwo doubled Mainz's advantage in the second half in front of a stunned Dortmund crowd, as their team had failed to put in the performance of champions with their destiny in their own hands.

They got a goal back through Raphael Guerreiro while Koln had equalised against Bayern, meaning that Dortmund had moved back to top spot despite failing to beat Mainz.

However, an 89th-minute Musiala goal sent the travelling Bayern supporters into raptures as his strike meant that once again the German giants would claim another Bundesliga title - despite Niklas Sule's stoppage-time equaliser for Dortmund.
