The Spanish forward has thoroughly enjoyed his time in England, but it is unclear how much longer he will be sticking around at Old Trafford
Juan Mata has declared his “love” of the Premier League, but he is yet to be handed a new contract by Manchester United.
The World Cup winner has been at Old Trafford since January 2014, with David Moyes having snapped him up for £37 million ($47m).
Mata has now passed the 200-appearance mark for the club, while his most recent outing saw him reach 50 goals and the same number of assist across English top-flight competition.
The 30-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed his time in a leading division, with his spell split between Chelsea and United.
He posted on his official blog after helping the Red Devils to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Fulham: “After the game, I was told that I had reached both 50 goals and 50 assists in the Premier League.
“It’s a great stat and something that I am obviously very proud of. But I want more, so I am going to continue trying to improve on those numbers.
“I have already been playing for many years in England, and I have to say that I am very grateful to both Chelsea and Manchester United for allowing me to enjoy English football for so long.
“I am spending a big part of my career in the Premier League and I want to thank both them and all of you, as it is a competition which I love.
“It is a very special league for players on many levels and I feel very fortunate.”
It remains to be seen how much longer Mata will form part of the Premier League elite.
United took up a 12-month extension option in his contract last season, but no fresh terms have been agreed in 2018-19 and the Spaniard is currently heading towards free agency.
Discussions have been mooted as Mata remains an important part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
He will have a vital role to play for United over the remainder of the season as the Red Devils will be looking to their more experienced players for inspiration in an ongoing bid to secure a top-four finish.
United have also made it safely through to the last 16 of the Champions League and will open their FA Cup campaign with a third round clash against Reading in January.
