McArthur insists Zaha is trying to control his anger

Wilfried Zaha is working hard to control his temper amid consistent fouls from opposition players, according to his Crystal Palace team-mate James McArthur.

Zaha has often been one of the most fouled players in the Premier League, and his temper sometimes boils over, resulting in bookings and - at times - red cards.

He was once again cautioned against Watford on Saturday afternoon, although replays showed he fell foul of a blatant trip by Christian Kabasele.

Speaking in response to the treatment Zaha gets on the pitch, Eagles midfielder McArthur told the Evening Standard: 'I think most games it is like that.

'He is that talented that they need to try and stop him somehow. He just needs to keep doing his job, keep doing his talking on the ball.

'I don't think anyone would like to get kicked as much as Wilf gets kicked. I think it [his temper] is something he is working on, he came out for the second half, was very disciplined and showed his talent on the ball.'

Palace secured a 0-0 draw against the Hornets in Nigel Pearson's first game in charge, taking their tally to seven points from the last nine games.

Roy Hodgson's men are ninth in the table ahead of a huge derby clash against their bitter rivals Brighton on Monday night.
