Meunier sorry for Hazard: If there is one player I don't want to hurt, it's Eden

Thomas Meunier has issued an apology to Eden Hazard after the full-back's challenge inflicted injury on his Belgian compatriot in the Champions League clash between PSG and Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The PSG defender expressed his regret over the challenge that forced his international colleague off the field in the 2-2 draw.

"I'm really sad. I tried to contact him directly after the game, but I couldn't get through," Meunier told Belgian newspaper Derniere Heure.

"Then, I saw two, three of his teammates who told me he was very sore.

"Whether it is serious or not, I don't know. Fingers crossed, it won't be," Meunier said.

Due to their close friendship, Meunier made clear that Hazard would be the last player he'd want to cause harm to.

"My goal is never to hurt other players. And if there is one player that I don't want to hurt, it's Eden," Meunier added.

The right-back can breathe a little easier, after scans on Hazard's injury revealed it is not a serious injury, and will only keep his international teammate out for ten days.
