Michael Owen booed on Anfield return with Liverpool Legends

Michael Owen was playfully booed by the Liverpool faithful as he made his return to Anfield among a star-studded legends side.

The former Reds striker and England international made his name on Merseyside, winning the Ballon d'Or before sealing a high profile move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool fans have never really forgiven the forward for a later switch made in his career - to bitter rivals Manchester United - and Anfield was keen to let their former hero know.

Owen featured in the second half of the contest, as the Reds went up against AC Milan Glorie containing the likes of Andrea Pirlo, and Kaka.

Coming off in the latter stages to allow former Kop icon John Aldridge a brief run-out, Owen received some jeers from sections of the crowd.

The 39-year-old took it in his stride however, and smiled as he made his return to the bench.
