Mikel Arteta can help prove Arsene Wenger prediction right with Arsenal win vs Liverpool

Arsenal have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield since September 2012 but have their best chance to end that run on Sunday when the two sides meet in a crucial Premier League clash

It will have been 3871 days since Arsenal's last win against Liverpool at Anfield when they travel to Merseyside on Sunday afternoon. Arsene Wenger was the last Gunners boss to beat the Reds on their home turf, picking up a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla.

Wenger may be proven right for believing his former club could be crowned champions this year after predicting that the Gunners were in with a shot of going all the way and lifting their first Premier League title since 2004 back in September. Wenger told talkSPORT: “This season, from the start, there is no completely dominating team and Arsenal have a chance [of winning the title] because the potential is there.

“Hopefully they can do it, at least to be in the top four. Why not? I think you cannot even rule out the fact that they can fight for the title," Wenger added.

The Gunners could take a huge step towards winning the title with a victory at Anfield on Sunday. While a win would see Arsenal keep City at a minimum of eight points behind them heading into the final eight gams of the season, it would also give the players and fans a huge amount of confidence heading towards tough away fixtures against West Ham, Pep Guardiola's side and Newcastle.
