Jose Mourinho has offered Dele Alli a route back into his plans at Tottenham after the Spurs boss insisted that he 'needs' the midfielder more than ever after his deadline day move to PSG fell through.

Alli, who has not started a Premier League game since the opening day of the season, has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and was heavily linked with a loan move to the French champions in the January window.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly rejected three bids from the French club now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, leaving Alli facing another six months on the sidelines.

However, following a positive meeting with Mourinho on Tuesday, Alli could now be offered a route back into the Portuguese's first-team plans for the second half of the campaign.

'I had a good conversation with him yesterday,' Mourinho told reporters on Wednesday. 'We found a good common ground. It's an important season for him and the team also. We need him.

'We are just waiting for him to be back to normality and back with the team.'

'I believe that the conversation was the extra motivation that he needed.'
