Former Manchester United winger Nani has insisted there was 'no better place' for Cristiano Ronaldo to go this summer than back to the Red Devils.
The 34-year-old Portuguese now plays for Orlando City in the MLS but had an eight-year spell at Old Trafford during which he briefly played alongside Ronaldo.
Nani told The Athletic that he remains a United fan and that Ronaldo's return has made him feel nostalgic for his Red Devil days.
Asked about supporting United, Nani replied: 'Always.'
'If I don't have a game at the same time, of course. It's special now with Cristiano there. Obviously, when you see the news and the situation of him at Juventus you could imagine that there was no better place for him to go than to go back.
'I knew the news would be true so it wasn't that much of a surprise to me. It's always a motivation to see Man United and Old Trafford full of fans, the way the atmosphere is at that stadium is just incredible. It's good to see and remember some good moments.'
Nani enjoyed a highly decorated Manchester United career, with the skilful, pacy winger a fan favourite. During his time there he won eight major trophies including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
The winger also revealed that he was instrumental in ensuring Bruno Fernandes moved to Old Trafford. The pair have been friends since playing together during Nani's second spell at Sporting Lisbon.
'I was the first one to tell him he should go to England and if he decides to go to England, if he can choose Man United it would be the best thing for him,' Nani said.
'That was funny because a couple of months later when I went to Orlando I saw the news and I texted him because I was seeing Man City and Man United and Tottenham were fighting for him and I said, "If you have to go, you choose Man United! It's the best!"'
As well as his skill in running at defenders, Nani's signature backflip goal celebration cemented his position among the Old Trafford faithful and remarkably the Portuguese said he can still pull them off.
'Of course I can still do them!' he laughed. 'I just can't do them all the time as I'm not young anymore. I'm just saving them for the best moment.'
