Napoli and Inter among clubs interested in Lens defender Kevin Danso

The backbone of Lens’ impressive campaign so far, which has them just six points off leaders PSG going into the final straight, has been their solid three-man defence, with the team having the bests defensive record by far in Ligue 1.

Jonathan Gradit, Facundo Medina and Kevin Danso have only let in 25 goals in 33 games – seven better than their closest rivals, Marseille. The latter, who arrived at the start of last season, has seen his performances attract interest from outside France, according to Foot Mercato this afternoon.

Specifically, soon-to-be Serie A champions Napoli have identified the Austrian international as a potential successor to the departing Kim Min-jae, while he also features at the top of Inter’s shortlist of candidates to replace the Paris Saint-Germain-bound Milan Škriniar. With Danso’s contract expiring in three years’ time, the Artois outfit’s asking price is expected to be around €20m. In any case, this summer will undoubtedly see fierce competition for the former Southampton man’s signing, not least given reports of growing interest from the Premier League as well.
