Neymar desperate to 'make history' at PSG by guiding them to UCL triumph

Neymar is determined to make 2020 the year PSG finally win their first Champions League, as the world's most expensive player hits the training ground to prepare for August.

The Brazilian has to sit by and watch as league action resumes in England, Spain and Germany, after Ligue 1 was handed to the Parisians 11 games early due to coronavirus.

PSG's most important matches are still to come though, with their European quarter-final beckoning at UEFA's rescheduled mini-tournament in Lisbon.

'This period was atypical, but the main focus was to keep safe, with steady body and mind,' Neymar said on his official website.

'I am ready and excited to return, thinking a lot about the Champions League, of course.

'We have a strong group, conquered a historical qualification, with the same intensity and dedication, but I miss the heat of the game.

'I can barely wait to enter the pitch and to, if it's God's will, make history.'

The Champions League's Lisbon tournament will see ties reduced to one leg on the route to the final, with matches set to be spread between the homes of Benfica and Sporting Libson.

Neymar scored twice as PSG overturned a 2-1 first leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund, progressing with a 3-2 aggregate victory over the Erling Haaland-led side.

The Brazilian is strongly linked for a return to former side Barcelona, where he did manage to win the Champions League alongside his fearsome 'MSN' partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
