Neymar took to the field with his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates for the first time this summer as he began pre-season training with the Ligue 1 champions.

The French club are in China ahead of the Trophee des Champions clash with Monaco, which will take place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian flew out to join his colleagues on Wednesday and met up with them in the team hotel on Thursday, meeting up with boss Thomas Tuchel and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon for the first time since the pair arrived at the club.

Tuchel's arrival was announced in May as the successor to Unai Emery, and he will look to make his own mark on the team.

Playing predominantly in a 4-3-3 under the Spaniard, it is thought the former Borussia Dortmund boss will look to switch to three at the back for the coming season, judging by his experiments in pre-season to date.

Their International Champions Cup campaign was a bit of struggle, with a host of stars missing — victory against Atletico Madrid tempered by a loss to Bayern Munich and an alarming 5-1 defeat by Arsenal.

However, with his core crop of stars slowly returning to action, Tuchel can start laying down the foundations for his own system.

The club are also in China to help boost their profile, and have been undertaking several cultural experiences while in Shenzhen.

They have also given back, with sporting director Maxwell holding a training day for local school children.

The former Brazil international spent the last five years of his career in Paris, before moving upstairs.
