Norwich chase move for ex-Liverpool defender ahead of deadline day

Norwich’s poor start

If you had told Norwich and their fans that they would be level with Arsenal this season, they probably would have bitten your hand off at the prospect. However, three games in, it is just the Gunners that sit between the Canaries and the foot of the Premier League table, by virtue of goal difference.

There have been problems all over the pitch for Norwich, but with Pukki still relied on to fire in the goals, it is keeping them out at the other end that will be of major concern, with the club having conceded 8 goals in three games (albeit including 5 to Manchester City).

As such, the club are chasing defensive reinforcements ahead of the transfer deadline on 31st August.

Norwich move for Kabak

The man that they have opted for appears to be Ozan Kabak, the Schalke man who spent the latter half of last campaign on loan at Liverpool.

Schalke have since been relegated, and Kabak’s future has been the source of intense speculation since the window began, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now reports that the Canaries have made an official bid for the Turkish defender.

Kabak will bring Premier League experience to Daniel Farke’s backline, and at just 21-years-old, has plenty of resale value should Norwich wish to cash in at some point in the future. While Norwich will represent quite a step down from Anfield and Liverpool, it may provide Kabak with a place to rebuild his fledgling career.

Would it be a good move for all parties?
