OFFICIAL: Felix joins Barcelona on loan & extends 2-year contract with Atlético
Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement for the loan of the player João Félix until 30 June 2024. There is no option for a permanent transfer.
João Félix burst onto the scene at the age of just 18 when he made his first team debut for Benfica during the 2018/19 season. The midfielder soon earned himself a regular spot in the starting line up at the Lisbon based club. That season was a spectacular one for Félix as his 15 goals and seven assists helped Benfica to the league title.
In all competitions he played a total of 43 matches, dazzling the fans with talent and creativity in the final third of the pitch. That year he was named winner of the Golden Boy, a prize subsequently won by both Pedri and Gavi.

The Portuguese striker, who has extended his contract with our club for two more seasons, undertakes a new professional challenge in Barcelona.
Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of João Félix until the end of the current season. The Portuguese striker has also extended his contract with our club for two more seasons, until June 2029.
João Félix joined Atlético de Madrid in the summer of 2019, at the age of 19, from Benfica, and has made a total of 131 official appearances as a rojiblanco player, scoring 34 goals and providing 18 assists. Seven of those goals and six of those assists in the 20/21 season, contributing to the eleventh league title in our history, before his loan at Chelsea for the second part of the 21/22 season.
From Atlético de Madrid we wish João Félix good luck for this season to keep on progressing as a football player.
