PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “The team has never been so united.”

Speaking to Record, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has said that the team have never been so united, whilst praising sporting consultant Luis Campos, whose position at the club had been called into question last week.

Foot Mercato had reported last week that Campos’ position at the club was under threat, adding that the search was already underway for his successor. However, during a visit to Portugal to inaugurate SC Braga’s new training centre (QSI have a minority share in the club), Al Khelaifi painted a picture of unity.

After a difficult start to the season under new manager Luis Enrique, which included back-to-back draws against Toulouse FC and FC Lorient, Les Parisiens beat RC Lens (3-0) and Olympique Lyonnais (4-1) before the international break. This season, the focus at PSG is on developing a playing style, according to Al Khelaifi. “This season, in PSG’s new cycle, we are focused less on results than on performance and style of play. If we do that, the results will then come,” he said.

He added, “PSG’s team, on and off the pitch, has never been so united, which i think you could tell in last weekend’s match against Lyon.” The president of the club then went on to praise Campos. “We have a fantastic manager and a sporting director and I am very happy with the spirit that has come back at PSG,” he said.

PSG have a difficult run of fixtures upon the return from the international break, facing OGC Nice, Borussia Dortmund and Olympique de Marseille in the space of just over a week.
