PSG close in on signing Dembele after talks with Barcelona over £18m winger

Paris St German have entered into negotiations with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele.

The France international winger was anticipating offers from the Premier League and his representatives held tentative discussions with Manchester United and Chelsea but with no bids forthcoming, the door was left ajar for PSG.

PSG are keen to bring a French player into their cosmopolitan squad and hope a deal can be struck with Barcelona keen to sell.

Dembele has six months left on contract and has refused a new deal.

Barca would like £18m for him now but PSG will try to drive the price down for the 24-year-old, knowing Barca need to get rid of his salary to ease their efforts to register other players including Arsenal's Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

PSG had hoped to bring Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham, a close friend of Kylian Mbappe, but they were unable to agree terms with the London club on a loan and he is now heading for former club Lyon.

The LaLiga giants have told the winger to find himself another club before the end of the January transfer window after failing to agree a new deal.

However, a salary of approximately £210,000-a-week has proved a stumbling block for several potential suitors.

As reported by Sportsmail on Saturday, Dembele is available for £18million as he's out of contract in the summer and has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the 24-year-old's representatives have spoken to Chelsea and United.
