PSG open talks with Neymar's team over extending his contract (Telefoot)

Neymar's representatives have begun discussions with PSG over a new contract at the Ligue 1 champions, according to reports in France.

The Brazilian star has been continually linked with a move away from the club, with his former side Barcelona rumoured to be weighing up a bid to bring him back to the Nou Camp.

But according to French outlet Telefoot, the 27-year-old's team have already opened negotiations with the club about extending his current deal at the Parc des Princes.

His money-spinning £200m move to France was intended to boost his platform and help PSG win the Champions League, but while the Brazilian has strutted his stuff and starred in domestic competitions, he has hardly featured in the knockout stages in Europe for the Parisians.

Last week reports from ESPN claimed that Neymar would consider committing his long-term future to the club so long as they could change their fortunes in Europe. In both seasons since the forward has been at the club, they have crashed out in the last 16.

Neymar looked destined to head back to Barcelona last summer but a move failed to materialise, as the Brazilian stayed put and eased his way back into the side after overcoming a niggling injury.

He appears to have fixed his tense relationship with the club this season, and has scored 13 goals for the team - adding seven more assists.

Sources believe Neymar, who has two years remaining on his deal in Paris, is settled in the city and is happy to stay for the time being.

He has recovered from an uncertain period where he was being booed by the home faithful after looking on the brink of a reunion with Barcelona, although the Spanish giants are thought to still hold an interest.
