'Pep Guardiola is coming' - Klopp jokes his way out of awkward interview

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had fans in stitches when he dodged an awkward interview by whispering: “Pep Guardiola is coming” before running off.

The rival gaffers were both attending the UEFA Elite Club Coaches Forum in the Swiss city of Nyon.

They were joined the likes of Maurizio Sarri, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Unai Emery at the annual event, where coaches exchange views on the key issues affecting European club competitions, as well discussing and making proposals to UEFA that may be beneficial to the European game.

The Liverpool manager was asked by a reporter: “Did you speak with 'Pepe'?”

A confused-looking Klopp replies: “Pepe? Who is Pepe?”

The reporter clarifies: “Pepe (with ever so slightly less emphasis on the second e) Guardiola.”

Klopp then shouts: “Pep!”

The reporter says: “Not Pepe, Pep,” to which Klopp chuckles: “It's not Pepe in Italy, okay, okay.”

“It's Pep” concedes the reporter, now losing the second e completely.

Gathering himself, Klopp says: “Yes of course we spoke. Why shouldn't we speak? We speak constantly,” before turning to look behind him.

Spotting the source of all the hilarity entering the room, the Reds boss lowers his voice and adds: “Pep Guardiola is coming” before hastily retreating from the scene.
