Reece James has been mocked on social media after donning a new haircut in the crowd of Chelsea's game against Manchester United.
The defender is facing weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury and is in a race to be fit for the World Cup, but has been paying close attention to his club side and took his place in the stands for Saturday's game.
TV cameras caught the England defender showing off his new green hairstyle, and he has been the centre of the jokes of social media ever since.
'Reece James' hair has been the most interesting part of this game', claimed one Twitter user.
'If I can’t be on the pitch, the pitch has to be on me', joked another.
The new looked was complemented by a matching green jacket, which earned some praise, but also comparisons to a famous festive character.
'Dunno about the hair, but Reece James’ jacket', said @JJSuggitt, accompanied by heart eye emojis.
'Reece James looking like the Grinch in the stands. I love him but the green hair and green puffer is wild', added another user.
'Big fan of Reece James coordinating his hair with his coat', joked one more.
Chelsea however have struggled in the game, conceding changes regularly and finding it hard to create at the other end.
'No disrespect to Azpi but the right hand side looks like our weakest point I miss Reece James honestly', said one user, taking things a bit more seriously.
'You can tell we really miss Reece James in our team. he’s the best player in our team currently and he’s been really missed', added another.
The 22-year-old is expected to be out until after the World Cup, but recently insisted he will do all he can to be fit for the tournament.
