Roma have sparked an interest in signing Dries Mertens on a free transfer at the end of this season according to a report from Naples based newspaper Il Mattino.
The 32-year-old's contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign and the Giallorossi are the latest to have joined a long list of clubs in wanting him. The Italian capital city club have joined Inter, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Lazio in being interested in him with some reports also suggesting Chinese Super League clubs are keen too.
Mertens has been with the Stadio San Paolo club since 2013 following a circa €10 million switch from PSV Eindhoven and if he is unable to get an extension to his current contract with Napoli, he wishes to remain in Italy rather than moving elsewhere.
The Belgian international has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season. In 1411 minutes on the field, he has scored nine goals and given four assists for his teammates.
