Lionel Messi signs for PSG
The biggest transfer story of the summer would of course see Lionel Messi depart FC Barcelona on a free transfer.
The Argentine has since linked up with French giants PSG, with his move officially announced on August 10th:
Messi has since gone on to make six appearances for PSG – three in Ligue 1 and three in the Champions League.
In the league, Messi is yet to get off the mark for his new club. However, in Europe, Messi has once again been at his stunning best.
The Argentine scored a superb goal for PSG against Manchester City last month and would then net a brace earlier this week as the Parisian outfit notched a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig.
Ronaldinho on Messi
Now, in a recent interview, Ronaldinho has been discussing his former Barcelona teammate.
The Brazilian legend spoke highly of Messi from their time at the Camp Nou together before giving his thoughts on Messi’s recent switch to PSG:
“When I arrived at Barcelona there was already talk of this fantastic young man, Messi.
“And then, when we trained together, I saw his quality. In each game and training session we saw he was different. It was a pleasure watching him do it, and he became a true friend to me.
“I’m very happy to now see him at the club I started with in Europe, although it’s not something I thought would happen. I was sure he was going to finish his career at Barcelona. For me, it was a surprise. I like PSG, but it was a surprise because I never thought I would see him in shirt that wasn’t Barcelona’s.”
