Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a snap with his mum at home after she was released from hospital earlier this week following a stroke.

The Juventus star's mother Dolores Aveiro was allowed home early last Saturday almost two weeks on from suffering a life threatening stroke.

Aveiro posted a selfie on social media after leaving hospital earlier this week and on Saturday night Ronaldo expressed his delight at having his mum home.

The caption on the photo on his Instagram page read: 'Feeling very thankful to have my mum home from hospital and recovering.

'Look after your family and loved ones. #stayhomesavelives.'

Ronaldo and his sisters Elma and Katia Aveiro were pictured smiling next to their mum, who was seen with her thumbs up sitting on an exercise machine.

Dolores Aveiro was rushed to hospital on March 3 after suffering an ischemic stroke, caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain.

She was told she could go home nearly two weeks after medics at Madeira's Nelio Mendonca Hospital saved her life. She was then transferred to a private hospital in the island capital.

Ronaldo is understood to have been self-isolating in Madeira due to the coronavirus pandemic and it appears his mum has now joined him.
