Roy Hodgson is back at Crystal Palace for a second spell as manager, with his first game back in the Selhurst Park dugout set to be against Leicester City on Saturday, April 1

Roy Hodgson has described it as a "privilege" after returning to Crystal Palace to manage the club for a second time.

The 75-year-old is back at Palace after being appointed as Patrick Vieira's successor until the end of the season, with Hodgson tasked with guiding his boyhood club to survival.

Palace currently sit 12th in the Premier League with 27 points from 28 games, with the Eagles three points above the relegation zone and four above bottom club Southampton.

But the former England manager has now called upon Palace fans to fight with them as the Eagles look to avoid being dragged into the bottom three, having not won a game yet this year in the Premier League.

“It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team’s fortunes around," Hodgson said after his return to Palace was confirmed.

"Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.

“Crystal Palace is known for its fighting spirit, and I have no doubt that all our supporters will fight with us, beginning with the visit of Leicester City a week Saturday.”

Hodgson has been joined by his long-term assistant Ray Lewington, who has returned as first team coach, while Paddy McCarthy will take on the role of assistant manager and Dean Kiely remains as goalkeeping coach.
