Sampdoria are reportedly in talks with former Milan and Genoa midfielder Andrea Bertolacci, now a free agent.
The 28-year-old is out of contract after his deal with the Rossoneri was allowed to expire in July.
He has plenty of experience, with 200 Serie A games under his belt, but has not yet found a new club.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Sampdoria have approached Bertolacci and proposed a new contract.
As he is a free agent, he would be available to play straight away and not have to wait until the January transfer window.
Samp have had a dismal start to the campaign with five defeats out of six Serie A rounds.
Bertolacci already worked with Coach Eusebio Di Francesco at Lecce in 2011-12.
There could be some tension if he went to the Blucerchiati, considering he had two different spells at their arch-rivals Genoa from 2012-15 and 2017-18.
