Sir Alex Ferguson joins Man United's Class of 92 at The Ivy

Sir Alex Ferguson stepped out for lunch at The Ivy in Manchester city centre on Friday afternoon, where he was joined by a number of former players.

Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, members of the famous Class of 92 cohort, were all present to meet with their former manager.

Ferguson looked to have a spring in his step as he was pictured meeting up with his old stars for food at the restaurant.

Neville was caught in conversation on the phone as he made his way to the restaurant with Giggs and Butt wrapped up warm from the winter chill.

Ferguson's appearance comes just a day after it was revealed he was ordered by doctors to stay away from Manchester United's victory over Fulham at the weekend.

The Scot, who is being guided back to full health after suffering a brain hemorrhage in May, had attended each of United's three previous matches in the space of just nine days — which included him making the arduous trip to watch them against Southampton on the south coast.

He was also present at Old Trafford for the Champions League victory against Young Boys, as well as the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Concerned by his hectic schedule, the former United boss accepted medical advice to skip the visit of the Cottagers.

Speaking to The Sun, one Old Trafford regular said: 'Sir Alex was nowhere to be seen and the word was he has agreed to the message from the medics – that is not to start overdoing things.

'They were concerned after seeing him on TV footage at the games – they then realised that he had been at three matches in just nine days including the lengthy trip to Southampton.

'We have been told Sir Alex took the advice on the chin and in his own inimitable style reluctantly agreed to it!'

For two members of the Class of 92, Neville and Giggs, it was a long journey north after they had enjoyed a swanky night out in Mayfair on Thursday.

They were joined at a private club, Annabel's, by businessman Peter Lim, who has a stake in Salford City, David Beckham and Gary's brother, Phil.
