Sir Alex Ferguson has quit alcohol as he continues to recover back to full health following brain surgery.
The former Manchester United boss underwent emergency surgery back in May following a brain haemorrhage.
Since his surgery, he has been steadily recovering at his home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
The 76-year-old visited the South of France for a holiday recently and has given up drinking alcohol, according to The Sun.
'He drank water every time he visited us, not a drop of wine touched his lips,' a staff member at the La Mare Germaine restaurant in Villefranche-sur-Mer said.
'Sir Alex loves his wines but he's stopped drinking for the time being — that's not so good for us, but his health has to come first.
'We'll all raise a glass to him when he feels he's ready to go back on the red.'
