Solskjaer plans to move into £4m mansion after renting it out to Van Dijk

After laying down the foundations in reviving Manchester United's season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his intentions to move into his own foundations he laid in Cheshire 12 years ago.

The Norwegian was appointed United boss on a full-time basis on Thursday morning - after shining as the club's caretaker manager since the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December.

During his playing days at Old Trafford, Solskjaer lived in a £4million, five-bedroom property but put it on the market after he returned to Norway to manage Molde.

However, since returning to England, the 46-year-old has been forced to look elsewhere for a property as his own is currently not available.

Having failed to find a buyer for his house, he rented it out to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk - meaning Solskjaer has had to stay at the Lowry Hotel.

But with his future now confirmed in Manchester, Solskjaer plans to return to his mansion - bringing over his family from Norway too.

'We've really enjoyed the last eight years living in Norway,' the club legend said in an interview with Manchester United following his appointment.

'It's going to be a change for them but we're looking forward to it. The six months that we agreed on [when initially taking the job on until the end of the season] as a family we agreed to do it separately as there was no need or use to move them over, that's gone now. Now we're moving together.

'We built a house, or I started it in 2007, but finally maybe in 2019 we can move into it - that's long planning!'

The 3.4 acre property includes a media room, a utility room, a store room/AV room, a first floor study area, a master bedroom with a dressing room and en-suite bathroom, four further bedrooms, a garage, a brick outbuilding with a pool room, a dark room and a gym.

In addition, there is also an extensive rear garden and a front paddock with stables.
