Tottenham forward Son Heung-min has spoken of his sadness that he was unable to win a trophy under Jose Mourinho, who he still describes as 'one of the best managers in the world.'
Mourinho was sacked as Spurs boss after 17 months in charge and just six days before the Carabao Cup final defeat against Manchester City - the Portuguese was today announced as the new Roma manager from the start of next season.
It is the first time since managing Portuguese club Uniao de Leiria in 2002 that Mourinho has not won a trophy at a club he has managed and South Korean star Son admits he feels 'really sorry' that the 'guy who wins everything' didn't claim any silverware in north London.
'It's always sad if someone loses their job,' Son told TV3.
'I don't want to talk too much because I've been working with him for 17 or 18 months.
'It's been up and down, we've been good and sometimes we've been not so good.
'It was just for me, for my memory, he's still one of the best managers in the world so it's just so sad that he didn't have the success.
'It was really sad because he's the guy who wins everything, it's the only team he didn't have success [with]. So, I feel really sorry about this.'
Ryan Mason is taking caretaker charge of the team until the end of the season and his side fell to a 1-0 loss against City at Wembley.
Son arrived at Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and despite scoring 106 goals during six prolific years, the 28-year-old is yet to win a trophy at the club.
He has come close, finishing runner-up in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
