Harry Kane returned to action as Tottenham were defeated by Norwich in a friendly on Friday afternoon.

Spurs' captain came through the game unscathed which is a huge boost for Jose Mourinho's side with Champions League rivals Manchester United their first opponents when the season resumes next week.

Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn, who were also injured when the campaign was halted in March, both took part at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Kane has not featured since January 1 after rupturing his hamstring against Southampton and Son had not played since February while Bergwijn picked up an injury in the club's last outing against Burnley on March 7.

The match was divided into four quarters of 30 minutes with Spurs making several changes in the final period as Norwich struck twice to claim a late victory.

Erik Lamela had given the home side the lead in the 24th minute, connecting with a Bergwijn cross to guide a diving header beyond Tim Krul.

The report on Tottenham's website said Lamela, Kane and Serge Aurier had chances to extend the team's lead in the second thirty minute period.

Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko were introduced in the third quarter with the England international also coming close to doubling Spurs' lead.

Youngsters Harvey White, Dennis Cirkin and George Marsh were all given run outs in the final half.

The visitors were able to cut open the changed Spurs side with two goals in the final ten minutes.

Tottenham host Manchester United at 8.15pm on Friday June 19 with the game live on Sky Sports. Alli will not be available for Mourinho after he was given a one game ban by the FA for a social media post in February.

Daniel Farke's team will also resume their season on June 19, with an earlier kick-off time of 6pm, hosting Southampton at Carrow Road.
