Spurs outcast Dier 'holds talks with Daniel Levy' after being frozen out by boss

Eric Dier has spoken to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy about his future in north London after failing to break in Ange Postecoglou's matchday squad, according to reports.

The England international has not been named to the starting XI or the bench in Spurs' first five matches in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup since the start of the season in August.

With just one year left on his current deal, the 29-year-old's season remains uncertain, and despite his failure to impact upon his new manager, Tottenham have reportedly rejected offers for move away from the side.

Mail Sport reported in late August that the club was thought to have snubbed a loan offer from Burnley for the defender.

But as per Telegraph Sport, Dier is keen to gain greater clarity over his situation, and set up a frank conversation with Levy last week.

Dier has been at Tottenham for over nine years, and has been a stalwart in the side under an array of different managers, with there being no suggestion of disagreement or a personality clash between the player and Postecoglou that could have led to his omission.

However, following two high-profile departures, Dier could yet find himself in greater demand at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The club fixed moves for both Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele to join Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, with Ndombele departing on loan and the defender leaving permanently - which should have a knock-on effect for Dier's fortunes as Postecoglou seeks depth in his squad's back line.

Former captain Hugo Loris also spoke to Levy after receiving similar treatment, and both players could yet book deadline day moves to Saudi Arabia before the closure of the Saudi Pro League window on Thursday evening.

The goalkeeper previously turned down a loan move to Nice, and like Dier, has just one year left on his contract.

Postecoglou's shake-up may be ruffling feathers in north London, but it is paying dividends after an unbeaten Premier League start.

The Lilywhites have won against Bournemouth, Burnley, and Manchester United since their opening day draw against Brenford, placing them second in the table ahead of the international break.

But their Carabao Cup campaign was prematurely snuffed out by Fulham in their second-round clash, which saw the Cottagers beat Spurs on penalties at home.
