Suso admitted he “didn’t see a team” when Marco Giampaolo oversaw Milan and said that Stefano Pioli reminds him more of Gennaro Gattuso.

“What makes me angry, is that I didn’t see a team,” Suso admitted to Sky Sport Italia. “With Pioli it’s different, he reminds me of Gattuso.

“He likes to talk; he asks us what we think or how we feel. In modern football, the phycological aspect is very important.”

Suso doesn’t hide the fact that he had created a good relationship to the former Rossoneri hero Gattuso and admitted they still keep in touch.

“I watched him on TV when I was little. It was a Milan full of champions,” the 26-year-old added. “When he arrived, we immediately became stronger. We had a great relationship and we keep in touch even now.

“He tells you how it is, straight to your face. No matter if it’s good or bad.”

“When the opportunity to go to Milan presented itself, I accepted straight away,” he said, but added that he had a tough time during his first years in Milan.

“It was a particular situation. I wasn’t playing for the Rossoneri and I thought maybe the Liguri was the right solution. [M’Baye] Niang also went there and had been doing very well.
