Victor Sanchez del Amo has been remembering the 1996/97 season at Real Madrid.

Fabio Capello was in charge of Los Blancos that year as they won the LaLiga title, two points ahead of Barcelona in second.

Capello arrived at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu with a big reputation, having led AC Milan through an era of success in Italy and in Europe.

"I still have a good relationship with [Capello] thanks to the great moments that we experienced together," Del Amo told Radio MARCA.

"He's my footballing father figure.

"We all have coaches who we remember fondly and, for me, it's him."

Del Amo played in midfield alongside Luis Enrique in that team and he was full of praise for the current Spain boss.

"Luis Enrique was a sensational teammate," Del Amo said.

"He treated the academy players really well and he was already crazy about physical preparation.

"He was key in a team that took a big step forwards with big stars supported by academy players."

Clarence Seedorf was another teammate who left his mark on Del Amo during their time together at Real Madrid.

"I shared a room with him," he said about the Dutchman.

"We have a good anecdote and it's that I sleep with my eyes a little bit open.

"He spent quite a bit of time talking to me thinking that I was awake... until I really woke up and he I found his face just in front of mine.

"He thought that I was faking it, but I was actually asleep and he always reminds me of it."

Del Amo established himself in the first team that season along with fellow academy graduate Raul.

"He was spectacular," Del Amo said about the striker.

"He had so much hunger and mischief.

"His leadership was always evident, on and off the pitch.

"I put him alongside Alfredo Di Stefano in terms of influence on Real Madrid."
