Tammy Abraham calls joining Roma 'the best decision of my life' after stellar season in Italy

Roma and England forward Tammy Abraham has said he is in 'no rush to get back to into the Premier League' after an excellent season in the Italian capital.

Abraham picked up a career-high 27 goals in 53 games last year as Roma won the Europa Conference League, the club's first European honour since 1961.

The 24-year-old was the club's top scorer and quickly became a favourite among the fans.

Speaking to Corriere Dello Sport, Abraham said: 'The best decision of my life was coming here. No rush to get back into the Premier League. I want to score one more goal than last season.'

'I hope I can beat my personal goal record. Without haste, however, because I don't fee yet one hundred percent ready. On the other hand, at this point in pre-season, no one is.'

Abraham was recently joined at Roma by former Juventus star Paulo Dybala, who signed earlier this month in a deal worth around £5 million a year.

There has been speculation as to how long he will stay, though, as the Argentine star has a release clause of just £17m.

When asked if Dybala's arrival would affect Abraham's standing at the club, the former Chelsea man said: 'There can be two kings in Rome. I think it's a privilege to have such a strong player become part of our team.'

'It means a lot for the fans, who in fact gave me a fantastic welcome. The message seems clear to me: the club is developing a great technical project and the results are there for everyone to see.'

Abraham also spoke about his hopes for next season. He said:  'The objective for next season is to return to the Champions League.

'I would tell a lie if I said I don't want to win the Scudetto. We all want to win it, but we have to prove our value on the pitch. We have a great team, a great club and a great coach. Only the sky is the limit.'
