Erik ten Hag has blamed Mason Mount's injury problems on his false start at Manchester United.
Mount became United's first signing of the summer when he moved from Chelsea in a £60million deal and impressed in pre-season.
However, the England midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in the second game of the campaign against Tottenham and has looked out of form following a six-game absence.
The 24-year-old has struggled to secure a starting place in recent games, but Ten Hag dismissed suggestions that his view of the player has changed in any way.
'Not at all,' said the United manager. 'He started the season and got injured.
'It is the worst moment for a new player to get injured because it stops the integration process and that was a step back for us all. He now has to get his place back.
'He has had some starts recently, last week against Newcastle, for instance. There are always reasons. The injury and other players coming in and doing well, and then you have to wait for your time to play.'
