Rashford misses start to the season

Following heartbreak with England in the Euro 2020 final, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford opted to have shoulder surgery. As a result, he has been a conspicuous absence from Manchester United’s mixed start to the season.

Without him, his side have managed 4 wins and 2 draws in the Premier League from the opening 7 games of the new campaign, but have suffered losses at the hands of Young Boys in the Champions League and West Ham in the Carabao Cup 3rd round, that saw another potential avenue for silverware shut to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rashford has since returned to full training, but was left out of the England squad for the upcoming internationals due to not having played yet.

Rashford nets in behind-closed-doors friendly

Now, stepping up his progress in making a return to the first team, Rashford appeared in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford. Better yet for the Manchester United faithful, the Manchester Eveniing News reported that the Englishman found the back of the net on his return.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already having Jesse Lingard, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and even Paul Pogba capable of playing across the front four positions, the return of Rashford will provide further selection headaches for the United boss.

But, having netted 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season, Rashford will be a welcome addition to Manchester United’s stable of attackers.

Will he find a place in the starting XI after the international break?
