Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley became the club’s youngest-ever Premier League scorer when netting at the Gallowgate End during Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham.
Here, we take a look at the 10 youngest scorers in the history of the Premier League…
1. James Vaughan – Everton, 16y 270d
He scored on his debut and was very quickly touted as the next Wayne Rooney. His next goal, however, did not arrive until two seasons later and, after seven years, he left Goodison Park with just nine goals.
He spent the rest of his career in the Football League - barring five top-flight games for Norwich - and now works for Everton as loan pathway manager.

2. James Milner – Leeds, 16y 356d
Incredibly, he’s still playing in the Premier League for Brighton aged 37, having won every domestic honour and the Champions League across spells at Manchester City and Liverpool.
There were also 61 England caps. Until Miley’s goal, he was also the youngster Premier League scorer for Newcastle.

3. Wayne Rooney – Everton, 16y 360d
There is an argument to say Rooney was at his best as a marauding teenager and his career started to fizzle out at the age of 30. Nonetheless, what a career it was - a record 253 goals for Manchester United and 53 for England.
He is now embarking on a less successful managerial career, currently in charge of Birmingham City.

4. Cesc Fabregas – Arsenal, 17y 113d
Arguably the most decorated of all the young guns given his World Cup and two European Championship victories with Spain.
He also won all three English domestic honours at Chelsea and an FA Cup at Arsenal.

5. Michael Owen – Liverpool, 17y 143d
He was a Ballon d’Or winner within two years and his career was front-loaded with success before a move to Real Madrid and a period of several years interrupted by injury.
But, at his peak, he was among the best in the world. He now combines punditry with a horse-racing stable.

6. Andy Turner – Tottenham, 17y 166d
The one name that requires most digging, Turner was most recently manager of Welsh second-tier team Cefn Druids. But his career perhaps peaked when, at the time, becoming the Premier League’s youngest scorer.
He added just three more for Spurs and spent time at 15 clubs in the lower leagues before retiring in 2007.

7. Federico Macheda – Man Utd, 17y 226d
The greatest moment of his career remains this stoppage-time goal in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
It led to a bumper new contract but it was to prove a false dawn and he eventually slipped into the Championship with Cardiff, where he scored just six goals. The Italian striker is now playing in Turkey at the age of 32.

There have been just two more goals for the Blades since his strike against Everton in the relegation season of 2020/21.
A spell at Burton on loan yielded only nine goals and he is currently in the shadows back at Bramall Lane.

Still not 30 years old, it feels like Sterling has been around the Premier League forever.
He was a mainstay of the Manchester City team that won four Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola before falling out of favour and moving to Chelsea.
He has also lost his England place and you wonder if Sterling’s best days are now behind him.
