Tottenham are now leading the race to sign Leicester City playmaker James Maddison - with the England international preferring a move to Ange Postecoglou's men over their rivals.
Confidential reported Spurs' were keen to sign the 26-year-old in April and they would like to add his Leicester teammate Harvey Barnes too, recently submitted a double £50million bid for the pair of them.
Barnes, though, also has interest from Arsenal and West Ham, and could be waiting until later in the window for his future to be resolved while Leicester determine his price.
Maddison has plenty of interest in him this summer, with Newcastle also considering a move for him after an impressive season at the King Power Stadium saw him score ten times and lay on nine assists in the Premier League - though his efforts could not prevent the Foxes from being relegated.
And the chat around England's camp over the past week is that Maddison is keen to join Spurs ahead of other suitors.
Mail Sport reported on June 8 that Spurs had made the signing of Maddison a priority for this summer, though Newcastle can offer Champions League football.
Maddison has only a year left on his contract, meaning Leicester must sell him this summer to recover a sizeable fee. The 26-year-old is currently with the England squad preparing for Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia on Monday.
Meanwhile, Spurs may be ready to cut ties with midfielder Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg.
The Denmark international has two years left on contract and is unsure about committing to a further deal.
New manager Ange Postecoglou is happy to move on while 27-year-old Hojbjerg is attracting interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, including Bayern Munich.
