Twitter pokes fun at Griezmann after incredible piece of Messi skill

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid might have shared the spoils on the pitch, but Antoine Griezmann would be well advised to avoid social media anyway.

The French forward could not get on the scoresheet as Diego Costa's opener was cancelled out by Ousmane Dembele's last minute equaliser in a tight 1-1 draw.

Neither could Lionel Messi, but the Argentine won the battle with Griezmann in the minds of Twitter, after a wicked piece of skill left the Atleti man flat-footed and looking in the wrong direction during the clash.

Messi picked up the ball midway inside the opposition half and beat Griezmann with ease.

Replays showed Griezmann facing complete the wrong way as Messi went about his business - an embarrassing moment for the man who turned down Barca in the summer.

Especially in the week when he admitted that 'subconsciously, being Messi's lieutenant may have played a part' in him turning down the much talked about move.

One Twitter user claimed that Messi had 'sent Griezmann back to France', while another poked fun at the Frenchman by saying he didn't need to be at Barca to be in Messi's shadow.

Griezmann is also expected to be one of the front-runners for the Ballon d'Or, but Messi's skill told him 'it's not that easy', according to another tweeter.

La Liga's top two remain separated by one point thanks to Dembele's last-gasp strike at the Wanda Metropolitano.

They look set to battle it out for the title this season in a two-horse race as Real Madrid's struggles continued with a 3-0 defeat at minnows Eibar.
