Micky van de Ven was in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as he watched his soon to be new team-mates star in a pre-season victory.

The Dutchman will soon become Ange Postecoglou's latest signing ahead of joining Tottenham from Wolfsburg on a five-year contract.

Van de Ven will undergo a medical in London on Monday after the two clubs agreed a £43million fee for the central defender, but first wanted to soak up the atmosphere of his new surroundings.

Tottenham thrashed Shakhtar Donetsk in a stunning five-goal victory on Saturday that saw Harry Kane bag four times before leaving to a standing ovation.

Van de Ven tried to downplay his appearance by taking a seat in one of the luxurious executive boxes at the state-of-the-art stadium but was soon spotted by delighted home supporters.

The centre-back enjoyed a successful season with Wolfsburg, leading to interest from several European clubs, but was keen to secure a move to north London.

A potential deal was at risk of stalling with Van de Ven involved in the Netherlands U21 squad to compete at the European Championships before a deal was eventually agreed.

Casually dressing in black trousers, white t-shirt and green jacket, Van de Ven was joined by an entourage as Spurs starred in front of a home crowd.

He stood and clapped his soon-to-be Spurs colleagues as they emerged from the tunnel in front of more than 50,000 supporters.

Eagle-eyed home fans spotted their newest signing before kick-off and was keen to interact with members of the crowd who approached the executive box hoping for an interaction.

Van de Ven shook hands with supporters as they welcome him to what is set to be the defender's new home for the next five years should he fulfil the entirety of the long-term contract on offer.

Spurs have already reinforced their attacking areas with the acquisitions of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon and securing the permanent transfer of Dejan Kulusevski, but are in need of defensive additions.

Van de Ven is expected to slot into the heart of a Spurs defence that conceded more goals (63) than any other team in the top half of the last season's Premier League table.

Tottenham's newest star is expected to be fit for their opening Premier League game of the season against Brentford after featuring in Wolfsburg's 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Italian side Spezia on Wednesday.
