Watford have signed Brazilian forward Matheus Martins, 19, on loan from Udinese for the rest of the season.

The youngster - who is Brazil U20 international - initially linked-up with Watford last month after the 2022 World Cup break.

However, he couldn't play in Watford's Championship game at Norwich or their FA Cup tie at Reading due to an issue with his work permit.

Martins - who has been training with Slaven Bilic's squad for the past month - must receive international clearance before he is eligible to play for Watford.

Martins could be in contention for Saturday's home game against Blackpool. However, it is dependent on whether his clearance is received in time.

Martins made more than 50 appearances for Fluminense in Brazil before signing for Italian side, Udinese.

The 19-year-old has also earned six caps and scored three goals for Brazil's national U20 team.
