West Brom's fight for Premier League survival has been made all the harder with news Karlan Grant is out for up to six weeks with a broken foot.
The 23-year old striker joined from Huddersfield Town in a deal worth up to £15million in October.
Though he has managed just one goal since his arrival, his absence will be sorely felt as manager Sam Allardyce looks to steer his ailing side away from the relegation zone.
Allardyce said: 'He (Grant) has cracked a bone in his foot. That was confirmed after he had an X-ray. It'll probably be, if we're lucky, five weeks maybe.'
Allardyce is already searching for a new striker on loan in the January window and wants to bolster his midfield and defence too.
Leicester's Hamza Choudhury is Albion's prime target for midfield and they are exploring other deals that could be done on a short term basis.
Everton striker Cenk Tosun has been linked but is not an option for Allardyce at this stage.
Blackburn Rovers want Albion defender Cedric Kipre on loan but are struggling to match the financial package required.
