What are Christian Pulisic's Champions League stats and records?

  /  autty

The United States star is getting more and more attention under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea but how has he been performing in UEFA's showpiece competition.

In the first leg of the 2021 Champions League semi-final, Christian Pulisic became the all-time United States leading goalscorer in UEFA's showpiece competition. His opener for Chelsea against Real Madrid at the Estadio Alfredo di Stéfano.

It only took him 14 minutes to give the Premier League side a valuable away goal but how does the UCL record for the man from Hershey, Pennsylvania, look since his debut? I had a look...

Pulisic growing in Champions League stature

In all, the 22-year old has played in 34 Champions League games. When Antonio Rüdiger floated that ball over the top in the Spanish capital last week, a cut inside Thibaut Courtois and a firm strike through two players on the line made it five goals for Pulisic. And he's also contributed four assists in the same time.

The key thing to note is that his constant development is clear. In his eight appearances this season - not all from the start - he has scored twice and provided an assist for his team. Defenders are not the only ones keeping close tabs on his talent.

As can be seen from our graphic (h/t sofascore.com) the former Borussia Dortmund winger has caused most of his threat down the right channel, but Tuchel is using his versatility to the advantage of the team and Real Madrid will be mindful of this in the decisive second leg.

Pulisic adds US UCL first

By scoring his latest goal, Pulisic became the first USMNT player to score in a Champions League semi-final.

With so many options available to the German coach, including Hakim Ziyech who replaced the winger in Madrid, it's not yet clear when his next opportunity will come. From what we've seen of late, though, he'll be ready to take it when it does.
