What we know about Cucurella's transfer to Man United as Chelsea 'offer made'

Chelsea transfer news: Marc Cucurella has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, with Chelsea open to an exit.

It comes one season after the left-back made the £60million move from Brighton as a marquee signing under the new ownership. In his campaign with the Seagulls, Cucurella won several awards, including the player of the season for the club, signaling hope ahead for the Blues.

His popularity wouldn't quite reach that level at Stamford Bridge though, as he was soon heavily associated with manager Graham Potter, who joined the club shortly after. While the 25-year-old's performances dipped, so too did the results of the west London outfit and tensions rose.

The defender hasn't been able to joust the starting shirt from Ben Chilwell or Levi Colwill, who have both started on the left under the new head coach. With his lack of involvement, it seemed as though a move away could be on the cards if a suitable offer arrived from elsewhere.

The interest from Manchester United so late in the window has added a new dimension to the story, given their injury concerns. The Athletic has added that an opening proposal has been made by the Red Devils for a season-long loan with the parameters around that being discussed.

It remains to be seen whether the move will end up favourable for all parties, with just a few days remaining in the summer transfer window.
