Which teams have qualified for Euro 2024 round of 16? Draw, fixtures, pairings…

  /  autty

Germany, Spain, France, England, Portugal and Italy have all made it through to the last 16, which gets underway on Saturday 29 June.

The Euro 2024 group stage draws to a close on Wednesday (26 June), by which time we will know the identities of the teams competing in the round of 16 in Germany. While the host nation, as well as Spain and Portugal, booked their places in the first knockout round with a game to spare, it was rather harder work for defending champions Italy, who needed a last-minute equaliser against Croatia on matchday three to ensure progression.

There was also a nervous wait for a number of other countries to see which four of the six third-placed teams made it through to the last 16.

As it stands, 11 of the 16 remaining contenders are known, with the other five to be decided when Groups E and F are completed in the coming hours.

Teams through to the last 16 of Euro 2024

Group A: Germany (1st), Switzerland (2nd)

Group B: Spain (1st), Italy (2nd)

Group C: England (1st), Denmark (2nd), Slovenia (3rd)

Group D: Austria (1st), France (2nd), Netherlands (3rd)

Group F: Portugal (1st)

Euro 2024 round of 16 draw

There will be a two-day break after the conclusion of the group stage, with the round of 16 getting underway on Saturday 29 June. Switzerland will take on Italy in Berlin, followed by Germany facing Denmark in Dortmund.

The completed lineup for the draw won’t be confirmed until the Group F finishes later on Wednesday. While Slovenia and the Netherlands know they will qualify as two of the four best third-placed teams, the identities of the other two will depend on matchday three results in Groups E and F.

Euro 2024 knockout round dates

Once the round of 16 is over, the quarter-finals will start with two ties on Friday 5 July, followed by another two on Saturday 6 July.

The semi-finals will take place across two days, with the first to be held in Munich on Tuesday 9 July and the second in Dortmund on Wednesday 10 July.

The Euro 2024 final will be played on Sunday 14 July at Olympiastadion in Berlin, which previously hosted the 2006 World Cup final between Italy and France, and the 2015 Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus.
