According to statistics, this was Yamal's debut goal in the European Championship, making him the youngest goal scorer in Euro history at 16 years and 362 days old. Messi also scored his first goal of this year's Copa America today (local time, July 9).
Interestingly, Messi's debut goal in the Copa America was scored on July 8, 2007, just one day before Yamal's debut goal in the European Championship. Messi scored his first Copa America goal in the quarter-finals of the 2007 tournament.
Even more coincidentally, both Messi and Yamal won the Player of the Match award in their respective semi-finals.
